Technology can confront us with hard decisions where many people may disagree. This forum activity helps participants learn about a complex topic involving a new technology and then engage in a guided conversation and make a plan of action. Participants put themselves in the shows of both scientists and members of the public to make a plan about whether to release genetically engineered mosquitoes in Mombasa, Kenya in order to prevent disease. It’s reasonable for people to disagree about paths forward, but sometimes we must find ways to talk through our disagreements! Try it out yourself.
